Out & About..

Wow what a fab picture of Sue Hillier, committee member, who is seen here crewing for her friend kate in four in-hand trials driving.

Looking at Sue's face i think she knows something we don't..

We all think she's very brave doing this !!

Sue can be seen on many of our Escorted Rides, as well as helping on clearing days. etc

Want to ride The Jack Mytton Way ? Then here are a few pointers

After planning to ride the Jack Mytton Way, I have found that there has been quite a bit of interest in the area and especially the route from riders who would like to possibly have a go also. My first thing to do was to arrange the accomodation, everything else then can revolve around this. Plan your distance that you would like to do each day and look for horse friendly B+B's in the area. You may like to stop at one host and ride different ways from there its entirley up to you.

I have researched the area well and driven out a few times now to check out certain busy road crossing and to make sure roughly where the host's are, I have also walked up the Carding Mill Valley and have decided not to ride this route up onto the Long Mynd as i found the path a considerable challenge. Instead i am riding bridleways from Church Stretton to All Stretton (1 mile) and then taking the Jinley Rd up.

This way we will joining the Mynd at one end and riding the entire length. The route from Jinley is stunning and what is lost by treking up the Carding Mill Valley is gained by beautiful views.

As we are lucky enough to have a horsebox ferrying all our gear each day this has enabled us to take more creature comforts but if you are riding light then plan well in advance. There are a number of host's along the way and these can be found on the Links Page and on the Article & Reports page 'Jack Mytton Way'

Maps can be used from OS Explorer or Landranger series, also downloaded using special internet mapping sites, or alternatively email me and i will forward a set of our route maps.

There are busy roads to negotiate and some quite testing countryside but on the whole the Jack Mytton Way is only an hour away from Worcestershire, you feel you have landed in a different world when up on the big hill and it really is worth a go.
